I loved all books as a kid, but The Cat in the Hat is my absolute favorite. The original 1971 cartoon movie (not the creepy live-action one that came out in 2003) really brought the book to life.
Thing One and Thing Two made me really nervous in both the book and the animated movie.

Cat in the Hat: Take the things? But who ever heard of a house without things in it?
